Engine Options for Crew Vans
The difference in the choice of engine can have a significant impact on the double cab’s performance, fuel efficiency and suitability to carry out certain tasks. When looking at horsepower, the higher horsepower results in quicker acceleration and higher top speeds, which is beneficial for highway driving. The Horsepower can vary from 136bhp to 225bhp.
The Torque is essential for crew cab vans, and this is especially important when carrying heavy loads. The heavier the torque, the better the pulling power, and it provides a smoother ride when carrying heavy loads.
There are also various engine options available, the most popular in crew vans being diesel, which is good for fuel efficiency and torque. Petrol engines are not particularly common in vans, but only in some models. One of the most popular vans that uses petrol engines is the hybrid van. We currently sell the Transit Custom hybrid which uses a petrol engine and 25-30 miles of electric.
When looking at the engine size for crew cab vans, it is common that the larger engine size, the van typically has more power and torque; however, this does mean that the van may consume more fuel.
